Father Brian A. Graebe is a priest of the Archdiocese of New York. A native of Staten Island, Father Graebe grew up in Freehold, New Jersey. He did his undergraduate studies at New York University (Philosophy) and studied for the priesthood at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, in Yonkers, NY. Father Graebe was ordained by Cardinal Dolan in St. Patrick’s Cathedral on May 14, 2011.
Father Graebe served as parochial vicar at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Lagrangeville, NY (Dutchess Co.) from 2011-2014, and at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak, NY (Westchester Co.) from 2014-2015. In 2015, Cardinal Dolan assigned Father Graebe to obtain a license and doctorate in dogmatic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Father Graebe successfully defended his dissertation, Vessel of Honor: The Virgin Birth and the Ecclesiology of Vatican II, in May 2019, and received the degree of Doctor of Sacred Theology (S.T.D.) summa cum laude. His dissertation has been published by Emmaus Academic Press (link).
Upon completing his studies in Rome, Father Graebe was appointed pastor of the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in lower Manhattan. He also serves on the faculty of St. Joseph's Seminary, as Episcopal Delegate for the canonization cause of the Servant of God Dorothy Day, and as host of the Break Fast podcast (link).
