Since 1815, music at the Basilica has glorified God and uplifted spirits. Some of the finest musicians of the last two centuries have passed through its doors. The cornerstone of our vibrant music program is the magnificent 1868 Henry Erben pipe organ, which underpins the hearty singing of our congregation and choirs in hundreds of liturgies every year.
Every first Sunday of the month, join the Basilica Schola for sung Vespers at the 7:00 PM Mass. The Schola provides choral music at both the 12:45 PM and 7:00 PM Masses, spanning the repertoire of chant and polyphony to newly-composed music. The Basilica Schola is back for the 2016-2017 season. We already have welcomed some new members, but hope you will join us too! We schedule informal "auditions" during the year for anyone interested in joining. It is a great way to enhance your spiritual life, meet fellow parishioners, and deepen your understanding of the tradition. Contact Joshua, our Cantor, at email@example.com to learn more and schedule an audition.
